Introducing: Chakra Drive

The first free-to-use, end to end encrypted file storage on Solana.

We're pleased to announce the launch of Chakra Drive, a new file storage solution developed as part of the Colosseum Hackathon.

This side project represents our initial foray into creating tools for a more user-centric data economy, with our core offerings still in development.

Main Features:

• End-to-End Encryption: Files are encrypted using Lit Protocol to ensure user privacy.
• Free to Use: Storage is powered by Irys Network and the first 10GBs are 100% free.
• Gas-Less Experience: Because the first 10GBs are free and users need only sign transactions, this is one of the only experiences on Solana that is truly gas-less. No gas top up necessary.
• Easy Sharing: Files can be publicly shared in one click and seamlessly on X using our native Blinks integration.

Why we built it

1. We believe software built on decentralized technology can be better than the competitive centralized versions.
2. We're a brand new company and building shit is our passion. Manufacturing culture is hairy - it must be felt out and discovered more than prescribed. Spending our first two weeks shipping a product to consumers is the best way to enable this journey of self-discovery.
3. We believe open-source ethos is at the core of data workloads. The practice of building in public is an important forcing function for setting long term direction.

What's Next

Chakra is on a bold mission to build a community owned data economy. Over the next 3 months, it will be more clear what we mean by this statement.

We'll be shipping products that we expect will deeply affect enterprises and consumers alike and disrupt major incumbent providers.
